3  ROATAN DIVING / Dive Site Specific Chat / Spookey Channel Dive Site Video on: April 20, 2008, 02:14:30 AM
Thank's to Ocean Connections (in west end Roatan, Bay Islands) and Oscar Tomola we are pleased to show you out there who have never dived spooky just how spooky it is..well would be if you were there in the water.

As it name implies, this dive site is very dark and spooky. Unlike most dives on Roatan, this dive is in a reef channel 30 meters deep and about 30 meters wide with spectacular topography, many swim throughs and typically large schools of sennet and a few toadfish hiding in the cracks and crevices.

8  ROATAN DIVING / General Discussion / Montreal to Roatan on: September 21, 2007, 04:22:22 AM
How can I get from Canada to Roatan direct ?

Roatan not the easiest destination for most of us to get through is served from direct locations, it is now comming in season from canada and I just cant find info online about getting a direct flight from any Canadian city preferably Montreal.

So do you know where I can fly from direct to roatan ?

thanks

9  ROATAN DIVING / General Discussion / money on roatan on: September 20, 2007, 01:32:52 AM
1 USD is today about 18.80 lempiras.
  • My wife and I will be landing on Roatan on the 20th and are going to
need some lemps. We were there a year ago but I can't recall a few
things. When we exchanged travelers cheques in Coxen Hole I believe it
was a limit of 1 cheque(up to $500) per day. Am I right on the 1 cheque
per day and the amount? Any info would be great!

Answer

I just wanted to say that you can withdraw from the cash point or use dollars directly (which end up costing a little more for things i.e. things getting rounded off etc) also save some for the exit from Honduras at customs 25 usd plus something like 5 united states dollars in local ??

THE TIP I actually wanted to pass on was that the cash points have been known to short change ! I had a friend short changed and eventually we worked out to go to the main bank in coxen hole to rectify, she showed us the pile of complaints about this !!! so count your money.

It never ceases to amaze me how involved the  world wrestling federation (WWF) get in such matters. Cheers to them all.

She will be sorely missed especially by the instructors, im sure its just the galley gone.
They were the best juices as well.

14  ROATAN DIVING / General Discussion / marine park methods of tax on: November 26, 2006, 07:06:12 AM
I have to say I think the marine park fee of $5 per year very light for roatan doubling this would double the annual revenue of which is ?

I like the idea of the decompression chamber being included in the fee in Utila, but I think the $3 per day a little high and makes the margins for the shops harder and thus diving a bit more expensive also considering they use more gas to get to the dives sites further around.

What would you consider a good charging method and amount ?
15  ROATAN DIVING / Marine Park Chat / Re: Robbed at Gunpoint on: November 26, 2006, 07:01:53 AM
Sorry to hear that. You take it rather well in my opinion. I guess we all get robbed, I am part of that club it wasnt at gunpoint though.

was he polite ? It also shows the difference in standards in roatan and the mainland I think, its always a shock the transition gets ever bigger.

good karma guys
