Don't forget that we work hard to find the best Roatan Deals for you
Written by calvin craneDon't forget that we are working hard when you contact us to get you the best rates in Roatan. Certainly this will be hard to beat going direct but we do have some agreements in place to enable this for you. But what service we offer beyond getting the best deal is that you will get the best advice on where to go and who to do what with. You can't trust a salesman so you need an unbiased service agent to do the work for you.
We take into consideration your dates - search against our package providers AND independents this gives you the best of both worlds.
Don't consider taking your vacation or holiday so lightly, after all its so hard to get time off of work.
Arriving by cruise ship ? You could still use our advice - ask us who would suit your style of diving best. We NEED AND WANT you to have the best time on Roatan.

Myself and E landed today in Roatan , jet lagged now as I write this had a nice run to west bay and back there have been some interesting developments along the shoreline. We ate a small meal at the eagle ray restaurant over the water and it was incorrectly billed up service charged and tax on all that ! I wasn't going to argue today [thats how good a mood the grumpy old man is !] and there will be no next time. It wasn't even that good. Getting a new battery hopefully in my mares nemo ready for tomorrows diving. We still are unsure about the pregnancy and insect repellent thing here it is possible but unlikely to get dengue and malaria for stays of just 2 weeks.
As requested here are a couple of pictures of the endemic Black Iguana of Roatan, Ctenosaura oedirhina. The first is a hatchling the second is an adult with bead tags.
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to send out an update about my progress concerning my program about our local Black Iguana, Ctenosaura oedirhina. Things have been very busy here. I have now surveyed much of the island and identified many locations that will function as long term study sites. These range throughout the entire island. I have been capturing many individuals in each area and have marked all captured individuals in a variety of ways. Most obvious, if you happen to come across one, will be the beads on the nape of the neck. These beads have different colors and are placed in a specific order so that when I encounter them again I will be able to tell who they are. This will allow me to estimate the population size and record behavioral activities. I have also placed humidity and temperature loggers throughout the island so that I can look for correlations between these environmental factors and different behaviors, such as nesting and migration.
On the outreach and education front I have created and distributed posters around the island. These are just the first version and I will be continually updated and repost throughout my time here. I have also started a monthly column in the Bay Islands VOICE to share information. I am happy to address certain topics in these columns so if there is something you would like to see let me know and I will write about it. Finally I will be starting a conservation biology class for teachers at PIER and at the community center in Punta Gorda. This first series is primarily for teachers and educators but all are welcome so please let me know if you are interested. My goal with this class is to work with the participants at the end of the class to improve the class and to create a class that the teachers and I can give to their students in the future.
Remember that this species is listed as Endangered by the IUCN and its trade is regulated under Appendix II of CITES so every action we make helps protect and conserve this species from extinction.
Cheers,

I thought I would blog this video as its really good took me back to Roatan momentarily to the scuba and the places and some familiar faces too.
Just heard news from the roatan marine park about the fire in French Harbour. So glad to know there were no fatalities but it must be gut wrenching to have nothing left. So I'm sure the generosity that I know or roatan residents will help them out in no time.

Created by Jason deCaires Taylor the sculptures will form a monumental artificial reef, designed to promote marine life, increase bio-diversity and draw Cancun visitors away from existing reef habitats.
