Roatan Articles - Diving Articles
There are three dive sites that are available to dive in Roatan as WRECK DIVES for the sport diver they are The Odyssey, El Aguilla and the Prince Albert. There is a fourth the Josey J off west end wall that can not be done by sport divers as it sits at 50-70m.

The wreck of the Prince Albert
We
will say that the Prince Albert opposite coco view is one of the best
if visibility exists , it can get a little murky due to the amount of
divers and it is on the less clear southern side of Roatan. This was
Roatan's first intentionally sunk ship. After it had been used to bring
Nicaraguan Refugees to Roatan it remained in French Harbour on the south
side. It took many years to get the wreck where it is today as it was
once grounded on the reef. Now it sits in 60-70 feet of water and so is a
popular dive. Coco View's owner Bill Evans can be thanked for the
current treasure. It certainly was one of the more memorable dives I
have had and there was a small plane wreck at one time.

The Odyssey
A
300 foot freighter that was sunk intentionally is massive and this is
what makes it one of my favourite dives in Roatan. If you can persuade
the dive shop to go then do ! This was made possible by the Galindos owners of Anthoneys Key Resorts and Hybur ltd. Dive shops also helped with the massive cleaning effort to get it ready for scubadiving.
